Jos Lansink
Jos Lansink won the gold medal in the jumping team event at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. He did so alongside Piet Raymakers, Jan Tops and Bert Romp. He competed in four consecutive Summer Olympics for his native country, starting in 1988. In 2001 Jos became a citizen of Belgium, for which he competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. Jos won the gold medal in the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games riding Cavalor Cumano. He finished 2009 in excellent form with a creditable second place in the Global Champions Tour finals in Doha Qatar and winning the Gucci Masters Grand Prix in Paris.

Shortly after his World Championship success in 2006 Cumano sustained a lower limb injury putting doubt on his ability to compete in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Ellen Whitaker, who herself uses equine hydrotherapy treatment in her daily training programme, introduced the idea to Jos in an attempt to aid Cumano’s recovery from injury. Jos and his veterinary team had reservations but to enable him to have a chance of reaching the Beijing Olympics decided to ‘give it a go’.

Jos Lansink purchased an equine hydrotherapy spa and over the following few months Cumano received intensive treatment. The Lansink stables veterinary team, along with Jos himself were amazed by the results and Cumano returned to the highest level of competition and competed at the Olympic Games in Beijing.

In early 2009, the Jos Lansink showjumping team moved into their new purpose built stables. “One of my first considerations was to purchase and install an equine hydrotherapy spa from the Horse Spas UK team and they designed a treatment system to fit the the designated area I had chosen within my stables”.
